I'm Shocked and appalled!
aboslubtley shocking- so much for paddlers supporting access for the sport
I know I won't be visiting eddy lines again- it own't stop me passing through though when running the River Dee though. A mass protest is needed!
thats what people on that site are saying however they are expecting people who just paddle through to pay aswell for "use of the water" (haha). they supposedly have put up signs on the water warning people of this but i know i won't be paying if i am paddling through.
yeah i only saw that after posting. That is even more shocking! what do they expect us to do- carry money down the river with us or get out and walk around mile end mill. They need their heads testing and their stance just goes against the whole paddling ethos! im sure they will go bankrupt soon, from either loss of custom or paying for all those legal battles agianst everyone! disgusting
I'm sure even less people will actually be willing to pay after this case and I'm sure JJ's will have no case against this person just paddle it from serpents tail if you're going to paddle the river. the sooner the better jen :p.

Bob, Jim T and self paddled down from Serpents Tail to Town Falls on Saturday (Jenny, where were you ?) in failry low water. We had no aggro at Eddy Lines, but if we were stopped I was going to tell them that we picked up some water above Eddy Lines and paddled through on it so it could not have been their water !.
If you park at the Mill, use their facilities etc then you should pay, but if like us you are just passing through (including playing on the features) there is no way I will be paying.

someone suggested before buying a cheap bottle of water from tesco and pouring it at the top of the river then paddling down. If anyone confronted them then they could say they bought the water :p then at the bottom of the river take the water back out the river and save it for next time.

Reading that it seems like they are in trouble and desperate for money, there is the old saying any publicity is good publicity and when this all eventually dies down they will have had there 5 mins of fame and people will remember.
I do agree if you use anything belonging to them then you should pay, but I would really like to see them prove that they own the actual water, penny pinching at its best!!!!
