Sat 20th Jan 06. Hi all we ventured out today, and decided to do an Open Boat trip down the Calder to Whalley.Our numbers were a bit depleted due to
colds/flu etc, and in the end just Mick,Charlie and myself went.Water levels were much higher than the last time we did this.In fact all but the first long
rapid were washed out. It only took 25 mins to do this short section ,and we finished by shooting the weir.A lady from one of the riverside houses thought
we were launching from the take out at the weir, and said we could launch
from her garden if it would be a better spot.In fact everyone we met was very friendly.A nice Open Boat run. Steve.
