Hi, i was going to leave this trip report to one of our enthusiastic younger members, but nothing has appeared; so here goes! A group of 7 very keen
paddlers met up on Sunday morning to paddle in the Lakes.Kevin,Natalie,Mick,Chris,Jim,David and yours truly.We went for the Rothay, as the grade of 2, with one rapid of 3 suited our group,and this was Mick's first Lakes river in an Open Canoe.The weather was excellent,cold and
sunny and we had an enjoyable paddle.We started on Grasmere so we would not miss the small weir and the top rapid.We saw a lot of other paddlers, and
one group of three foreign canoeists were in an inflatable, (we helped them when they got stuck on the Stepping stones ) the play wave was in good
form and everybody had a blast Surfing(i think i did better in the Open than the Microbat, but what the heck, i gave it a go in both)I think David won the Surfing competition but there are a few starting to catch him up.We got to Windermere to find the wind had got up ,and there were some decent waves,
Natalie managed to Surf one of the better ones.Finally one of our group had a
swim,on the flat water just before the lake .I am sure the details will come out in the next few weeks.An excellent trip with a decent water level. PS.We were well supported by Vicky who provided coffee and ran the shuttle.
