Just wondering whether or not the Ribble Tour is happening this year? I know before I left there was a mention of it possibly being cancelled...does anyone know?

Hi Jenny ,the Tour is off due to an Access issue, although i have paddled the
Ribble twice in as many weeks without problems.I am going to send your 2 Star cert to you by post in the next few days.Steve.

Just a a bit of up to date info onthe Ribble.I have paddled it twice in the last two weeks. The first time it was very low and we were in Opens, and the second time we Kayaked it and there was a decent bit of water going down it.
This made it into a nice grade 2 run,that we did in 2.5 hrs(inc 1:) stop).On both
trips we encountered lots of Anglers (about 20 in total ) and only 2 were
unfriendly. In fact most were very chatty and pleasant. Steve.

Hi steve , myself Frank,Bob and david went down to paddle the Dee from horseshoe falls down to town falls and were met by the water baliff and 'asked' not to put in although he said he didn't believe we would scare any fish or damage the banks etc. he told us he was acting on complaints from fishermen.......anyway we just pushed him in and paddled it...only kidding

We actually wimped out and agreed to put on lower down, just above Eddy Lines. We had some debate with him and said that as it was still the salmon fishing season we could see some merit in his point of view but once fishing finished he said we should still not paddle, we said watch us !

It looks like its heating up out there, makes you think that there's going to be an interesting winter ahead.
We used to have someone called Arthur who looked a bit like Donk off Crocdile Dundee and he could be quite useful, diplomatically of course, when discussing the merits of paddling stretches of water that were disputed.
I had a look at the long term weather forcast for Oct/Nov/Dec and the prediction is for warmer and wetter than average so we should get some good paddling in.
